Northern Rail are on the brink of losing their franchise after Transport Secretary Grant Shapps took them to task in the House of Commons earlier.
Shapps told TBG - “I want trains to run reliably and on time.”
“Unacceptably this hasn’t been the case for Northern Passengers.”
“Today I’ve informed parliament of Financial Default.”
“By the end of this month I will set out the changes we will make to move towards a less fragmented, more reliable railway.”
Mr Shapps also released this written statement.
