PRESSURE is mounting again tonight for Gerald Vernon Jackson (GVJ) to resign as Leader of the Lib Dems Group on Portsmouth City Council.

At today's full meeting attended by a TBG mole GVJ said he "misspoke" when appearing to smear victim 'Annie' in the local media whilst sub-committee member Les Stevens said that his infamous "protecting my mate Hancock" quote was really about "protecting standards" instead.

Latest members to call for GVJ to go are Steve Wemyss who said "he should consider his position" and Simon Bosher who yelled "God help Portsmouth South if he replaces Mike Hancock as Lib Dems candidate".

The news comes on the day Matthew Hancock became the new Minister for Portsmouth, local MP Penny Mordaunt joined the Cabinet as Local Government Minister and it emerged, on local reporters Twitter feed, that a former Lib Dem councillor is alleging that Mike Hancock once crashed into a fence on a late night visit to see 'Annie'.
